Child Passenger Safety

According to Safe Kids Wisconsin:

  • Road injuries are the leading cause of preventable deaths and injuries to children in the United States.
  • 4 out of 5 car seats are not used or installed properly.
  • When installed and used correctly, child safety seats decrease the risk of fatal injury by 71%.

Waupaca County Car Seat Fitting Station

WHEN: The 1st Thursday of every month (subject to change). See the Public Health Calendar for an up-to-date Car Seat Fitting schedule

WHERE: Petersen Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 1407 Royalton St. Waupaca

HOW: Call the Public Health Office at (715) 258-6323 to schedule an appointment

WHAT TO EXPECT AT APPOINTMENT:

A certified technician will:

  • Inspect your current car seat
  • Adjust the car seat for your child's age, height, weight, and properly install it in your vehicle
  • Educate and demonstrate proper installation so you are able to install it on your own
New car seats may be provided to those who are eligible:

  • Infant, convertible, combination, and high/low back booster seats are available
  • Contact the Public Health office to find out if you are eligible
