What is a Conditional Use Permit?

  • As the Setbacks and Allowable Uses Table shows, each zoning district has a list of permitted uses (P) and a list of conditional uses (C). Conditional uses require a public hearing for input from neighbors and governmental agencies. The first step in a conditional use permit is to obtain approval from the Town Planning Commission. The Planning Commission makes their recommendation to the Town Board. The Town must send their recommendation to the Planning & Zoning Office before a public hearing can be scheduled.
  • It takes at least 3-4 weeks to schedule a Conditional Use public hearing once the application is received by the Planning & Zoning Office.
